Instructions

1: Boil split peas with turmeric until it starts to split.

2: Cool and grind split peas with shadon beni, garlic, and scotch bonnet.

3: Add salt and geera to the ground peas and mix well.

4: Knead flour with salt, sugar, and baking powder, adding water little by little to form a medium dough.

5: Knead until smooth, cover, and rest for 10 minutes.

6: Break into 4 oz dough balls, cover, and rest for 5 minutes.

7: Fill each dough ball with a handful of filling, bring up the ends to seal.

8: Roll out the filled balls and cook on medium heat, oiling both sides, until puffed up and golden.
